Francesca is an italian Art Director and Illustrator living in Vancouver, Canada.

Since the start of her career she has specialized in designing characters and their stories while developing the look of various types of animated projects.

Francesca is the Character Art Director and the Character Designer of The Angry Birds Movie and its sequel .

Clients include LAIKA, Passion Pictures London, Dreamworks feature, Walt Disney TV, SONY PICTURES ANIMATION, Mackinnon and Saunders, Dwarf Studio Japan, Netflix, Nexus and Illumination Entertainment/Universal.

Francesca graduated with the highest graduation score from La Sapienza University of Rome and holds a Master’s Degree (first level) in Modern and Contemporary Art History. Her graduation thesis (advised by Prof. Alberto Abruzzese) focused on the history and the structure of commercial sequential art. In addition the thesis adopted the work and theories of semiotician and academic Umberto Eco to analyze the content published by a major italian publishing house.
